The RayVille Big Band was founded in 2013 by vocalist Joey Green and trombonist Alex Lag. Originally dedicated to the music of Ray Charles, The Band has been wooing audiences with authentic performances at venues such at ORF Radio Kulturhaus, Porgy & Bess, Reigen, Die Buehne, and The Metropol. RayVille is not a place but rather a musical journey connecting the past with the present. It began as a vehicle dedicated to the classic sounds of legendary pianist and performer Ray Charles. From his early days with his trio and on through to the big band sound he created with The Count Basie orchestra, Ray Charles's influence on popular music can be heard on countless records from artists covering blues, jazz, R & B and soul. The RayVille Big Band is focused on keeping this music alive on stage. More recently, RayVille has expanded it's repertoire to include original renditions of legendary music from the likes of Nat King Cole, Billy Joel, James Brown, Eddie Floyd, Al Greene and yes---even Gregg Allman! RayVille also has been developing an ever-growing catalog of it's own original big band titles---many now streaming on Spotify, Apple, YouTube Music, etc.
